David M. Cutler is interim Dean of Social Science (January – June 2025) and Otto Eckstein Professor of Applied Economics at Harvard University. He served as Assistant Professor of Economics from 1991 to 1995, was named John L. Loeb Associate Professor of Social Sciences in 1995, and received tenure in 1997. Professor Cutler served as associate dean for Social Sciences in the FAS from 2003 to 2008 and was designated a Harvard College Professor from 2014 to 2019. Professor Cutler holds secondary appointments at the Kennedy School of Government and the School of Public Health. His research focuses on health economics and public policy.
